August 3, 2023

Saudi Arabia

Ashhan for Renewable Energy has opened the first ultra-fast charger for electric vehicles in Saudi Arabia, in the city of Khobar, at the Sharafat Park site, with a capacity of up to 200 kilowatts. The charger is easy to use and allows direct payment with Mada, Visa, and Mastercard cards without a subscription or application. The charging cost is 0.59 riyals per kilowatt. The opening was attended by a number of interested parties and owners of electric vehicles, including Al-Juffali Company with electric Mercedes cars. CEO Al-Harith Al-Hussan confirmed that this step is part of Ashhan’s plan to support the infrastructure for electric vehicles in line with Vision 2030, which aims for 30% of Riyadh’s cars to be electric by 2030.

Saudi Arabia's Ashhan Company signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea's Daewoo Electronics, a company specializing in the manufacture of electric vehicle chargers, to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of infrastructure and charging solutions within the Kingdom.

The agreement was sponsored by the Korean Minister of Transport and the Korean Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, with the aim of supporting Ashhan's plan to establish a world-class ultra-fast freight network.

This step is part of the Kingdom's efforts to achieve the goals of Vision 2030 in shifting towards electric mobility and strengthening international partnerships in the fields of technology and renewable energy.
